Convertible Kits for the Beetle

15 years ago we started our business by converting Beetles and selling them in the AUTO TRADER or Exchange & Mart newspaper.

 We now export this kit to 4 corners of the globe, such has been the popularity of this kit. During that time we have introduced several models, but the current model has been with us for about 12 years. People fell in love with and it has remained largely unchanged except for a few minor tweaks down the years.

There are several reasons for this.

What does a kit cost?

For £799.00 we will supply you with a hood in black vinyl, plus all the framework, new rear side screen/windows, rubber seals, all the chassis restrengthening steelwork plus instructions. We make 2 slightly different hoods. One for the standard flat windscreen Beetle and another for the 1303 curved screen car. You need to order the correct one.

Delivery?

These kits are heavy, they contain around 20 feet of steel. We ship in the UK for £30, some remote areas may carry an extra supplement. Overseas customers please  e-mail for a shipping quote.

What skills do I need?

You need someone who knows a thing or two about welding as half the job involves using a MIG welder. Mig welding is fairly easy to learn and lots of "hands on" d.i.y. type people have learnt to weld using the new generation of cheap MIG welding units. Some of my customers have used a mobile service for this part of the job.

What condition does the car have to be in?

The cars chassis has to be in good order or you have to put the chassis in good order before work can start. You cannot weld in the new steel on old rusty parts. If you are replacing heater channels or floor pans, do this first!

Do I need anything else?

No, everything is provided in the kit, you don't need to go searching around scrap yards or buying anything else for the conversion, its all in the kit!

Can I have a different colour hood?

Yes you  have a choice of 9 colours for a supplement of £70 or you can upgrade further to a Black Mohair/cloth (Merc type) hood for an extra £200

We take credit/debit cards over the phone or cheques in the post. You can also pay by Paypal (+2%) or by cash or bank transfer.
